Members of the KDI Kares Kids program were at the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission on March 14 spreading some sugary goodness.
Six children, two of them Girl Scouts from troops 826 and 2003, handed out 120 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to the homeless.
"We thought it would be appropriate to share," said Suzanne Zens, design consultant with KDI Elements in Bermuda Dunes, which runs the program.
It took the children about 30 minutes to pass out all the cookies.
Some of the recipients dug right in - chowing down on shortbreads and Thin Mints.
Others played the trading game.
Michael Wright started with shortbreads, traded those for peanut butter then traded again for his favorite - Carmel DeLite.
"Everybody loves cookies," he said.
Jeff Allen, development associate at the rescue mission, said people that use the shelter appreciate the generosity.
"A special gift for each person - this will carry them through the weekend," he said.
