Concert will raise money for the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission

A tribute concert to the music of Motown doo-wop later this month at the Eldorado Polo Club will help raise money for a homeless shelter's larger facility.

"Under the Stars - A Tribute to Motown Doo-Wop" will raise funds for the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission, Eldorado catering director of food and events Robert Castaneda said Thursday.

"These people not only help homeless people, but they are also helping people who do not have jobs right now," said Castaneda, who is co-promoting the event with concert organizer Jan Jacques.

"They are doing all these things for the community and in my heart, I wanted to take care of them."

The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission is raising $12 million to build a 35,000-square-foot facility with more amenities. It will be located on Van Buren Street across from the Rescue Mission's current 9,500-square-foot location.
